situation

From sprayers and tractors to dozers and cotton pickers, Case New Holland is a global producer of agricultural and construction equipment. In the U.S., they produce combines at their Grand Island, Nebraska, plant. Every day the plant receives parts shipped from numerous suppliers in surrounding cities and states. Working with almost 100 carriers made logistics challenging for the Case New Holland team.

goals

The company wanted a simplified solution to deliver Just in Time freight for plant production.

strategy

Before bidding, Nussbaum carefully analyzed every lane. We only pursued routes where we could provide superior service and pricing. Using customized planning software, we created a detailed package that utilizes the fewest number of trailers and optimizes driver hours. Our pricing is based on the hours we operate our trailers.

Dedicated drivers are domiciled in key lanes that connect the outlying suppliers to the hub at Grand Island. Dry vans are loaded with empty containers and taken to suppliers. The containers are unloaded, and the trailers are re-loaded with inbound freight for the plant.

results

Each driver manages his routes, getting to know the suppliers, their products and their specific needs. The result for Case New Holland? A single carrier handling 25 of its lanes. Higher levels of service. Increased efficiencies. And decreased transportation costs.
