SmartWay Transport is an innovative collaboration between EPA and the freight sector designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions, and improve energy security. Nussbaum is among an elite group of trucking companies who have earned the program’s highest rating possible – 1.25.

At Nussbaum, we spend our time and resources in achieving the highest fuel efficiency standards possible. Our equipment is powered with these fuel efficiency solutions:

• Trailer Skirts & Tails
  The advanced technology of skirts and tails provides our fleet with the most aerodynamic and fuel efficient trailers available.
• Ecoflaps
  Allows air movement through mud flaps while greatly minimizing water and debris from other vehicles and cutting wind resistance.
• Auxiliary Power Units (APUs)
  These anti-idling devices save fuel and reduce emissions by keeping the truck engine shut off while driver is stopped.
• Standardized Company Speed Limit
  The speed limit for our trucks is set at 65 mph to reduce fuel consumption and to comply with rules for the driver and public safety on our highways.
• Late Model Equipment
  Out tractor and trailer equipment is modern, equipped, and fuel efficient.
