As we embrace this Christmas Season, what do you find more fulfilling, giving or receiving? If we were honest, most of us would say that we like receiving just as much as giving. Receiving a gift is great, but if we’re honest with ourselves, eventually, they leave us feeling, well you know, kind of empty. Contrast that to a hug from a friend, a call from a family member, an unexpected visit from someone we haven’t seen for a while. Doesn’t it give us a feeling of warmth?
For the last five years, Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT) has been recognizing the country’s “greenest” fleets. We are honored that, for the fifth year in a row, Nussbaum has been chosen as one of HDT’s Top Green Fleets.
Nussbaum recently had the opportunity to partner with local Christian radio station, WCIC to help fill a prison with hope.
We were able to provide flatbed trailers as a stage for two concerts that the station hosted at Logan Women’s Correctional Center in Lincoln, IL. The concerts were held August 20th inside the prison and featured Christian music group, Unspoken.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) implementation date is fast approaching. Beginning December 18th the FMCSA’s Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandate will require most interstate carriers to use ELDs instead of paper log books.
We are honored to be recognized along with SmartDrive in this year’s Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 List for our work in utilizing SmartDrive’s technology to implement an innovative scorecard program.
In 2016, leadership here at Nussbaum heard about a practice called 4 Disciplines of Execution(4DX) by Franklin Covey. The goal of 4DX is that, in the whirlwind of our daily tasks, each person in the company is empowered to affect our organization's goal. What is that extremely important “thing” that our company needs to achieve and how can our employees directly effect that goal? 4DX gives structure to the goal and promotes intense focus to execute and achieve whatever goal we would collectively decide.
It has been two years since we began our Faith & Family campaign that originally included 80 trailers wrapped in colorful vinyl graphics featuring 4 scenes that showcase family moments and activities.
These 4 scenes included a father teaching his daughter to ride a bike, a husband and wife enjoying a walk in nature, a father and his sons on a fishing trip, and a family gathered around a fire at their camping site.
In my travels and onsite visits to customers, I’ve started to notice a welcomed emphasis in the way that management views the operating performance of their shipping facilities across the US. I’m sure we have all heard it before, but becoming a “Shipper of Choice” continues to drive the industry forward into smoother interactions between drivers, carriers, and the shippers.
Finding the right shipping partner for your company is no small task. With a multitude of carriers out there, it can be a tough job to sift through all the offerings to find the best fit for you. Focusing on three key attributes can help narrow down the list a little quicker:
We are excited to announce that Nussbaum Transportation has been honored as the 2017 CCJ Innovator of the Year! This award comes to us in recognition of our efforts to create a driver scorecard that rewards drivers for the skills they exhibit rather than just their fuel economy statistics.
