Many factors must be considered when thinking of companies that qualify as a Best Fleet to Drive For. It is not enough to say that they excel in one particular area. Rather, they need to have a comprehensive program that focuses in on their driver’s needs and works to provide a high level of growth and support. When we think about what it takes to be a Best Fleet to Drive For, there are 4 key foundations that really stand out.
We are very excited to announce that we have been named a 2016 Best Fleet to Drive For by Truckload Carriers Association (TCA). This prestigious annual award is given to North American trucking companies that provide the best workplace experiences for their drivers.
We received this same award in 2015, making it the SECOND YEAR in a row the company has earned the title.
At Nussbaum, you’ll often hear us talk about how much we value our drivers and employees. We have a passion for our people that drives us to find ways we can continuously improve. In the last year, this passion has led Nussbaum to develop a relationship with Strategic Programs Inc. This company specializes in providing solutions to help organizations realize their goals and improve organizational performance.
As partners in the EPA’s SmartWay Transport Program, we are serious about fuel efficiency. Each year we take steps to continue to improve our fuel economy and lower emissions. That is why we are so excited that HDT has recognized us as a Top 50 Green Fleet for the third year in a row.
A lot has happened in 5 years. 5 years ago, we had about 160 drivers running mostly regional freight. Today, we’re keeping more than 300 drivers busy, serving all 48 continental United States. 5 Years ago, we were operating with 30 employees out of a small, yet adequate office building and 1-bay shop for preventative maintenance and basic repairs. Now with 76 office and shop employees, we’ve moved a mile up the road into a brand new operations building and state-of-the-art maintenance facility performing all types of repairs.
We all need a little validation every now and then. Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT) magazine chose Nussbaum as their winner for the 2015 Fleet Safety & Compliance award! The contest judged a company’s safety culture, practices, programs, and most importantly – the results.
Earlier this month, we had the distinct privilege and honor of being invited to a groundbreaking event in Las Vegas to witness a significant new advance in truck technology.
Daimler Trucks North America, the manufacturer of Freightliner Trucks, unveiled the first “Autonomous Truck” licensed in the state of Nevada, or anywhere in the world for that matter. They call it the Inspiration Truck.
The Mission page on a company’s website can tell you a lot about that organization. Most will talk about integrity, treating their customers and employees with honesty and respect. But take a look at the Mission, Vision, and Values page of Nussbaum, and you will notice something different, something you won’t find on most trucking company’s websites. It talks about God. At Nussbaum, we believe that God owns this company, and we honor Him through the way we do business.
