Action Items Status Update – March 2020

This list is a status update on the action item list that we published from the Summit in September of 2019. Many of the action items have either been completed, are being worked on, or given the green light to develop. See the status of each item in the list below.

Completed or Active

Update drivers on new bobtail parking plan.

Bobtails are now parked in row 1.

Review policy regarding heated wiper blades/blade tension.

We can install them upon request, but drivers will need to cover the cost.

Add note to shop work completion notice of work that is not done that will be addressed next time.

This is now included in the follow-up email at the end of an appointment.

Install longer cords for shore power in the bobtail line.

As we need to replace cords, we have been switching out the 25′ cords for 35′ cords.

Review Solar Panels with drivers who are still having to idle significant amounts.

All known cases are addressed.

Work on communicating periodically to clarify how Yard Movement and Personal Conveyance can be used.

This has been communicated to drivers, but is not on a schedule.

Working On

Widen the trailer spots in the current parking lot.

Slated to happen in the spring when it warms up.

Update the fuel lists so that stop wait time is taken into consideration.

This is a project waiting in the IT work queue. Timeline TBD.

Update LiNK so the drivers can input their own ETA as feedback.

Still in the IT work queue near the top of the list.

Update load terminology in LiNK so all screens say “scheduled” instead of using multiple terms.

This is an active project being defined. Estimated completion, approx. 6 months.

Deferred

Review installing a snow scraper for trailers.

Estimated cost was too high to justify the amount of use. The shop can clean trailers off as needed.

Review with Freightliner feasibility of heated windshields.

Freightliner will not release them for testing until Q4 2020.

Review length of time before scores take effect for new hires and possibly shorten it.

This was reviewed and decided to leave as-is.
