Job Description

Driver Service

  • Supervise 30-35 drivers
  • Take support phone calls from drivers for various purposes: questions on load schedules, load information, directions, help with fuel stops, parking locations, etc.
  • Respond to driver ideas, frustrations, or concerns related to their job satisfaction
  • Take the lead on working with drivers after late deliveries
  • Coach drivers on their Bonus Program/Scorecard and help them be successful

Communication with other departments, such as:

  • Work with Shop to get drivers through for equipment work
  • Work with HR/Safety to take care of drivers’ admin needs and issues
  • Work with payroll when a driver has pay concerns and questions

Administrative Processes

  • Support Load Planners and CACs in moving and delivering loads efficiently
  • Some overlap into dispatching the driver and looking at their load plan
  • Monitor load timeliness and progress – keep CACs updated and also check-in with the driver if load schedule hits a snag
  • Communicate with Load Planners on drivers’ availability and load needs (post up on Need Loads, work on splits if the schedule doesn’t work, etc.)
  • Ensure driver has accurate information to complete their loads
  • Monitor the scorecard, make entries, and complete Success Plans yearly with each driver

Job Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Ability to learn/understand software for driver status, load status, Scorecard, and more
  • Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively

Other skills

  • High call volume and time spent on the phone
  • Capability to handle frustrating situations
  • Strong ability to build relationships and work with others
